PinPoint ATS review – “An ATS that cares about Recruiters”PinPoint ATS Review

A new entry in the TATechtools Top 10!

An ATS should make recruiting easier… And, yes apparently, that still needs saying – Given I currently use WorkDay I am an expert in what an ATS should not look like!  What I like about Pinpoint’s approach is the focus on the people actually using it: recruiters, hiring managers, and candidates. Less chasing, less admin, and hiring processes that can adapt to the role. From UI to workflows everything feels at though it was built to make hiring and life in general easier.  Watch the demo below, even the color scheme is de-stressing (as in removing stress).

Pinpoint brings applicant tracking, a built-in talent CRM, branded careers sites, interview scheduling, scorecards, offers, and reporting into one platform. It supports different workflows across teams, locations, and brands, so your executive search doesn’t need to follow the same process as your frontline hiring.

The automation is particularly powerful. Candidate updates, interview invitations, feedback requests, and alerts when someone has been left sitting in a stage too long. That last one matters. Candidates shouldn’t need to chase us to find out whether they’re still being considered!

There’s also AI-assisted screening, with criteria recruiters can edit and explanations behind candidate scores. I especially like being able to interrogate the reasoning as a number on its own tells me very little and we are all quickly learning that Blackbox AI making decisions without recruiter input is not a recruiters friend!

Pros

  • Easy: It just makes sense, things are where you expect them and everything works how it should
  • Flexible hiring workflows: Different roles, teams, and locations can have different processes. Useful for companies hiring across both corporate and frontline roles.
  • Candidate experience: Branded careers sites, multilingual applications, candidate communication, and feedback surveys give teams practical tools to improve the experience.
  • More of the stack in one place: CRM, scheduling, scorecards, and offer management are built in. Potentially fewer subscriptions and fewer integrations to babysit.
  • Useful automation: Reminders and escalations tackle the everyday chasing that eats into a recruiter’s week. None of us who fell into TA stuck with it as we loved sending our fourth feedback reminder.
  • Explainable candidate scoring: Recruiters set the criteria and can review why a candidate received a particular score.

Cons

  • Pricing: You need to speak to sales for a quote. I’d prefer to see an indicative price before booking another demo. It’s a real pet peeve of mine!
  • Check what’s included: Some capabilities are packaged separately. Get clear on the features and total cost you’re actually buying.
  • Switching takes work: This is a full ATS replacement. Migration, integrations, and getting the team onboard need proper planning; complex enterprise implementations can take several months.

Over the next few weeks I will run some side by side comparisons of PinPoint vs GreenHouse, PinPoint compared to Kula and Pinpoint vs Ashby
